Assalamu 'Alaikum my dear brothers and sisters in Islam,
Today, I want to share with you the story of one of the greatest Prophets of Allah (SWT), Prophet Ibrahim (AS). He was a true believer and a role model for all of us. His life was full of tests and trials, but he never lost faith in Allah (SWT). Let me share his story with you in detail.
Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was born in the city of Ur in Mesopotamia, which is now modern-day Iraq. His father was a polytheist and an idol worshipper, but Ibrahim (AS) refused to follow in his footsteps. He was a monotheist from a very young age and used to think about the nature of the universe and the existence of a Creator.
One day, Allah (SWT) revealed Himself to Ibrahim (AS) and made him a Prophet. He was tasked with spreading the message of Tawheed (the oneness of Allah) to his people, who were steeped in idol worship. He preached to them for many years, but only a few believed in his message.
One day, Ibrahim (AS) received three guests who he welcomed with great warmth and hospitality.
Ibrahim (AS) went above and beyond in his hospitality towards his guests, showing them the utmost respect and care. This act of kindness towards his guests was an excellent example of how we as Muslims should treat others, and it is something that we should all strive to emulate in our daily lives.
Little did he know that these guests were actually angels sent by Allah (SWT) to give him the good news of the birth of his son Ismael (AS).
The guests then informed him of the situation, that he would soon be blessed with a son, despite being old in age.
As the guests departed, they informed Ibrahim (AS) that they were in fact angels sent by Allah (SWT) to give him this news. Ibrahim (AS) was filled with gratitude and thanked Allah (SWT) for this great blessing
Another thing I should highlight is the construction of the Kaaba.
Ibrahim (AS) was commanded by Allah (SWT) to rebuild the Kaaba, which had been built by Prophet Adam (AS) and later destroyed by the Great Flood during the time of Prophet Nuh (AS). Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismael (AS) set out to construct the Kaaba, following the instructions given to them by Allah (SWT).
The construction of the Kaaba was a significant task, but Ibrahim (AS) was not deterred by the challenge. He knew that Allah (SWT) was with him every step of the way and that the task at hand was of immense importance.
Today, the Kaaba serves as the holiest site in Islam, and millions of Muslims from around the world visit it every year during the Hajj pilgrimage.
Lastly, There's a story I must talk about, Allah (SWT) commanded Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son as a test of his faith. This was an incredibly difficult test for Ibrahim (AS) as he loved his son deeply. However, without hesitation, Ibrahim (AS) set out to fulfill Allah's command, knowing that his obedience to Allah (SWT) was of utmost importance.
As Ibrahim (AS) and Ismael (AS) made their way to the location of the sacrifice, Satan appeared to them in the form of an old man, trying to convince Ibrahim (AS) to disobey Allah (SWT). However, Ibrahim (AS) recognized Satan's deception and threw stones at him to drive him away.
As Ibrahim (AS) arrived at the location and was about to sacrifice his son, Allah (SWT) intervened and replaced Ismael (AS) with a ram, which was sacrificed instead. This was a powerful reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that Ibrahim (AS) was willing to make for the sake of Allah (SWT) and his willingness to submit to Allah's will, no matter how difficult or painful it may be.
In the Quran, Allah (SWT) describes Ibrahim (AS) as His friend and mentions him in several verses. He is also mentioned in numerous Hadiths, including one in which the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "Ibrahim was not a Jew or a Christian, but he was a true Muslim (submitting to Allah's Will), and he was not an idolater."
Prophet Ibrahim (AS) lived a long and eventful life, filled with trials and tests. But through it all, he remained steadfast in his faith and never lost sight of his goal – to please Allah (SWT). His story serves as a source of inspiration and guidance for all of us, reminding us of the importance of trust in Allah (SWT), perseverance, and unwavering faith.
May Allah (SWT) bless us all with the strength to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and may we all be counted among the righteous on the Day of judgment.
