The Story of Idris (Enoch) AS

As-Salaam-Alaikum, my dear brothers and sisters. Today, I want to share with you the story of a prophet that is mentioned the Quran and Sahih Ahadith, Prophet Idris AS.

Before I start, a short dua'.

May Allah accept our Ramadan and grant us the ability to worship Him with sincerity and devotion. May He forgive our sins and shortcomings, and increase our faith and good deeds, and grant us success in this life and the hereafter. Allahumma'Amin.

It is important to note that there are many stories and legends about Islamic figures that are not based on authentic Islamic sources. These stories may have been passed down orally or may have been added to Islamic literature over time by different authors and scholars. Therefore, it is important to approach such stories with caution and to verify their accuracy based on authentic Islamic sources, such as the Quran and the Sahih Ahadith.

It is also important to do research and to differentiate between authentic Islamic sources and non-Islamic sources when learning about Islamic figures. Non-Islamic sources may not provide accurate information and may even promote false or misleading narratives about Islamic figures. Therefore, it is important to rely on authentic Islamic sources and to seek knowledge from qualified scholars and sources.

By doing research and verifying the accuracy of stories about Islamic figures, we can gain a deeper understanding of their teachings and legacies and avoid perpetuating false or misleading information.

That's why I refer to the Quran and the Sahih Ahadith as the primary sources of information.

Having that said... Let us start Bi'Idni'Allah!

Prophet Idris was born during a time when people had forgotten about Allah and His teachings. He lived in a time of great turmoil and darkness, where people were worshiping idols and indulging in sinful behavior. However, even in the midst of all this darkness, Idris remained steadfast in his faith and continued to spread the message of Allah.

Idris was a man of great wisdom and knowledge. He was gifted with the ability to see things that others could not. He would often retreat to the mountains to ponder over the wonders of Allah's creation and to seek guidance from Him. It was during one of these retreats that Allah spoke to him, and Idris became a prophet.

As a prophet, Idris preached the message of Allah to the people of his time. He reminded them of their duty to worship Allah alone and to follow His commandments. Idris was known for his patience and his perseverance in the face of adversity. He was often ridiculed and mocked by the people, but he never wavered in his faith.

One of the most significant events in the life of Prophet Idris was his ascension to the heavens.

"And remember Idris in the Book; he was truly a man of truth, a prophet. We raised him to a lofty station."

According to Sahih al-Bukhari, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Idris was lifted up (to the heavens) while he was alive." (Sahih al-Bukhari 3198)

After his ascension to the heavens, Prophet Idris was shown the wonders of the universe and was given the knowledge of the stars and the planets, and he was shown the angels who worship Allah day and night. He was also given the gift of prophecy, which allowed him to see into the future and to predict events that would occur.

After his journey to the heavens, Idris returned to earth and continued to preach the message of Allah. He lived to be over 900 years old, and during his lifetime, he saw the birth of many great civilizations, including the ancient Egyptians and the Babylonians.

However, the life of Prophet Idris came to an end when Allah decided to take him back to the heavens. Idris did not die a natural death but was lifted up to the heavens by Allah. It is believed that he now resides in the fourth heaven, where he continues to worship Allah and to intercede on behalf of the believers.

The story of Prophet Idris is one of great wisdom, knowledge, and perseverance in the face of adversity. He was a man who remained steadfast in his faith, even in the midst of darkness and turmoil. His ascension to the heavens and his interactions with other prophets serve as a reminder of the greatness and the majesty of Allah.

May we all strive to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Idris and to remain steadfast in our faith, no matter what challenges we may face. Ameen.
